Crafty Projects before our little girl comes...♥

Since it's my winter break, I've spent quite a bit of time working on projects for little Gwennie so that they are finished before she arrived.  The two projects that I have started are:

a hospital bag (which I just finished this morning)

fabric

It's finished!  It's huge, but this way there is enough room for everything we need to take to the hospital.

The insides:  4 interior pockets, two snaps at the top, and a sturdy base.

and her nursery letters.

Christopher painted them for me! ♥

Nursery Update

The nursery is painted and the carpet is down.  Chris has been working hard and we are almost ready for furniture!  The quarter-round needs to be put in and then it's time to assemble the crib and changing table, etc.  So proud of my hubby for working so hard!!

The update on Gwennie is that the doctor's office says she's doing great!  Heart rate was 137bpm and the measurement was 31cm which is right where she should be.  I'm growing more uncomfortable and larger by the day, but that's ok as long as our little girl is doing well! ♥

Nursery is now under construction!

Christopher was great last night and now the nursery is painted!  Touching up the trim is next and then ripping up the carpet to see what's under it!  Can't wait!

before paint...

now!

Everything is coming along nicely!

30 weeks

her face is right in front of the placenta, so this is the best facial shot we were able to get.  However, she's in the right position, so I'm not complaining.  We'll see our baby girl soon enough! ♥

Whistle While You Work!

The basement is now finished enough to move the furniture thanks to my wonderful husband and my parents.  Over the weekend, we (my mom and I)emptied out the office and packed it up while Chris and my dad were finishing up the downstairs room.  Now, the nursery wall that needed to be primed, since it was dark blue, is primed.  Waiting for Chris to start painting...

30 Weeks!

We’re at 30 weeks today!

30 weeks: Baby weighs as much as a large cabbage. Your baby rivals a good-size cabbage in weight, tipping the scales this week at 3 pounds. (Length: about 15 3/4 inches, head to heel.) As baby's skin smoothes out, her brain just keeps getting more wrinkled. All those grooves and indentations increase surface area, meaning more room for that oh-so-essential brain tissue. She's also adding some brawn -- her grip is now strong enough to grasp a finger.

Feeling bigger by the day, and not as great as I was during the second trimester. However, nothing too terrible to complain about. Gwennie and I have an appointment tomorrow with the doctor to see how she’s doing and a 3D sono this week! Yay! Hopefully we can see what our baby girl looks like!! (Gwennie needs to cooperate this time.)

Chris is working hard on the basement in order to begin Gwennie’s nursery. Quarter-round to go in the basement and then to move all the office things downstairs. Then it’s determining the floor situation in Gwennie’s room; carpet or refinish the hardwood floors. We’ll see!

Gwendolyn’s things are starting to come in and we’re getting excited. We’ve got her basinet and her crib bedding, so we’ve at least got somewhere to put her to sleep if she decides it’s time to come before we’re ready.

Here’s Gwennie’s Big Sister!     She has no idea what’s coming in February! ♥

Christmas Time @ the Ritscher Household...

Friday night rolled around and we went out and got our Christmas tree.  This is the earliest I've ever put up a tree, but we did find a really really nice one.  It's all decorated and lit up so at least that's done.
After the tree was decorated, Christopher wanted to make sure that his holiday toy from last year still worked.  Once that was determined, he put up all the lights and things and this is what it looks like now.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope everyone will have a special Thanksgiving with their family and friends tomorrow!  Gwennie and I had an appointment this morning and our little girl is doing great!  Heart rate was 135bpm and she was measuring one week ahead of mommy.  :-D

As of today, I am 28 weeks along, which puts me in the first week of my Third Trimester!!!

Your baby is the size of a Chinese cabbage.  2 and ¼ lbs and 15 inches from head to heel. Baby's lungs are mature enough that, if born right now, she has a pretty good chance of surviving (with help from medical technology). Her skin is still pretty wrinkly (one byproduct of living in amniotic fluid) but will smoothen as fat continues to deposit.  TheBump.com/BabyCenter.com

Christopher is working hard on the basement in order to move our “office” down there to use the room upstairs for the nursery.  The next step is painting the larger room.  We want to get the painting done before we lay flooring.

About two weeks ago, my little sister threw Gwennie and I a baby shower.  It was so nice and it was great to see everyone and visit for awhile!  Thank you to all who came and had fun!  Thanks Theresa, for throwing a wonderful shower!
